Committees and Task Forces
FSBPT has standing committees and short-term task forces that members can participate in. Members are appointed to standing committees for three years, and appointed to task forces in one-year increments or until the purpose of the task force has been completed.
You can view a list of the standing committees in About FSBPT/Organizations/Committees. Nominations for these committees are solicited at the annual meeting, which is held in September, and through the September and October News Briefs, which are sent out via email. The Board of Directors appoints new committee members in December, and terms begin January 1st of the following year.
Opportunities for task forces occur throughout the year. The Board of Directors reviews the names of people who have asked to be appointed to various committees, but were not appointed, when deciding on task force members. In addition, if time allows, task force openings are also advertised in the News Briefs.
The Federation funds members’ attendance at committee and task force meetings.
Exam Committees
One of the best mechanisms for understanding and providing input into the NPTE development process is to volunteer on the exam committees (Examination Development Committees or Item Bank Review Committees). More than 50% of the participants on the exam committees are faculty. Previous item writing experience is generally needed to quality for an NPTE exam committee. Additional qualifications include the ability to work well with a team and understanding and support of the mission of FSBPT. To apply for committee membership, please click on the Item Writer Application link below, print and fill out the form, and fax or mail it to us.
NPTE Item Writers
Serving as an NPTE item writer provides an excellent opportunity to share your expertise, network with colleagues, and contribute to the process designed to ensure that competent professionals are licensed. More than 60% of NPTE item writers are faculty. To learn about additional benefits of becoming an item writer, click on the Flyer link below. For an application, please click on the Application link below, print and fill out the form, and fax or mail it to us. Item writers who have shown an understanding of the item development process and have met productivity requirements are considered for exam committee appointments.
