THE PURPOSE OF THE JURISDICTION LICENSURE REFERENCE GUIDE
This guide is intended to be a resource to the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy, its members and stakeholders. It compares some of the major similarities and differences among the jurisdictions. It may be used as a reference for educational programs, students, licensing boards, professional associations, and others.
METHODOLOGY
The information contained in this guide was collected by surveying each of the 53 regulatory authorities represented by the 53
states and territories with physical therapy licensing boards in the United States. The jurisdictions were surveyed in Spring 2007. After the data was entered into the database, the information was sent back to the regulatory authorities for validation. You may want to contact a jurisdiction directly to verify the information.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy would like to thank its members in each of the 53 jurisdiction regulatory
agencies for their work in filling out the surveys from which the data for this guide was collected.
DISCLAIMER
Although information has been collected directly from jurisdictions and validated, the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy does not claim that the information contained in this guide is infallible.
