FSBPT is hosting an in-person NPTE Workshop for Educators on February 21-22, 2023, in San Diego, California. This workshop immediately precedes the APTA-CSM conference. The workshop will be held at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay, and there will be a special room rate available to attendees. The workshop is expected to run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the first day and from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on the second day—however, attendees can stay as late as 6:00 p.m. for individualized instruction. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. The workshop fee is $750, and there is an additional fee of $50 if you want a printed version of the electronic materials. Please contact npte@fsbpt.org if you are interested in registering for this workshop or if you want to be added to the waitlist for future workshops. Learn more and register.
The Physical Therapy Compact Commission (PT Compact) is growing! Twenty-seven states are now actively issuing privileges.
Physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs) whose home state is Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin can now go to ptcompact.org to verify their eligibility and purchase compact privileges. Practitioners can purchase compact privileges for one or more of the other remote states, giving them the ability to provide physical therapy services in those states.
See the status of your state on the PT Compact Map.
The substance use overdose epidemic continues to worsen. We have failed to slow the spread of this complex disease. Many factors contribute to our current state of affairs. Although stigma is our primary barrier, there are other challenges faced across all aspects of healthcare. This presentation will highlight some of those key issues, with a focus on how we can collaboratively overcome them. Register now.
FSBPT is transitioning to a new software, ProDriver, to administer the NPTE. Candidates can get a feel for the new software by viewing the NPTE Demonstration Exam on our public website.
Over the past year, FSBPT has been working diligently to continue to update and improve many aspects of the National Physical Therapy Examinations, from candidate registration to examination development and delivery. Some of these efforts have already been implemented, while others will take effect in 2023 and 2024. Learn more by reading this article: "2022 NPTE Updates: Research, Innovation, and Practice Analysis Updates." You can also find more information on these changes on the FSBPT website.
We received feedback from several schools that holding the July PTA exam adjacent to the Fourth of July holiday was not ideal timing for students. While the 2023 and 2024 exam dates are already set, we will take this feedback into account when creating exam dates for 2025 and beyond.
Item writing for the NPTE is a great way to gain expertise in crafting multiple-choice questions, share your knowledge of the profession, work with and learn from colleagues, and have fun! We have several workshops planned for 2023:

Regional
If you or someone you know would like to participate in an Item Writing Workshop, learn more and apply or send an inquiry to volunteer@fsbpt.org.
