The existing NPTE agreement between the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy and the Maine Department of Professional and Financial Regulation, Office of Professional and Financial Regulation, Board of Examiners in Physical Therapy, expired on December 31, 2024. As of January 8, 2025, a new agreement between the two parties has not been executed. As a result, individuals are no longer able to register for the NPTE through Maine.
FSBPT cannot answer this question. If a new contract is signed, access to the NPTE will immediately be restored and candidates will be able to register for the NPTE through Maine.

Yes. Once you have been approved by a state to sit for the NPTE and have received an Authorization to Test (ATT) letter, you schedule your appointment with Prometric. You can choose to take the NPTE in any Prometric test center, regardless of the state that you registered through.
No. Individuals who registered for the NPTE through Maine will need to change their state by calling FSBPT Exam Services at (703) 299-3100, option 5. Individuals may also choose to withdrawal their NPTE registration.
