Membership Survey Insights and Recommendations
The 2023 Membership Survey Task Force met in early June to review the responses to the survey. Thank you again to everyone who supplied their valuable feedback!
FSBPT used a robust and unbiased process to collect and analyze the survey data, ensuring credibility and reliability. The survey was conducted by an independent third-party organization, guaranteeing neutrality in the results. Survey results have been overwhelmingly positive, indicating high satisfaction levels among members. However, we continue to conduct further analysis to gain a comprehensive understanding of your feedback. We may be reaching out to you for more specific feedback.
The Task Force helped identify the need to enhance communication regarding our resources to ensure all members are aware of them when needed. Furthermore, improving the onboarding experience for new board members and administrators is a priority. We will continue our efforts to provide comprehensive support as new staff and board members join FSBPT. Finally, we aim to explore new opportunities for member involvement, seeking innovative ways to actively engage and empower you.
We are committed to transparently communicating the process, outcomes of the survey, and progress in the recommendations from your input. We will provide regular updates through various channels to keep you informed.
Get Ready for LIF!
Prepare your attendees for the Leadership Issues Forum (LIF): July 15-16, 2023!
Compile a list of items you would like to discuss with other member jurisdictions and the FSBPT Board of Directors. LIF is an excellent opportunity to have meaningful dialogue and discussion and provide input from your jurisdiction to your Board of Directors.
Are you sending a first-time delegate or funded administrator? This meeting also helps prepare them for their roles at the Delegate Assembly in October. Jot down your questions now!
We encourage you to discuss the above with your fellow board members and give your questions and topics to your LIF attendees.
Help Us Determine Competency Standards
What types of knowledge need to be covered on the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) to determine if an individual is minimally competent to work as an entry-level PT or PTA? It's a key question that ultimately is answered through a process referred to as a practice analysis.
Each year, we survey a portion of licensees to get their views on current entry-level practice. On May 23, our survey partner, HumRRO, sent the survey to 20% of practitioners. To successfully accomplish this task, we must engage as many physical therapists and physical therapist assistants as possible to participate in the survey. We encourage you to reach out to your licensees via email or in your next newsletter and ask them to respond to the survey by mid-July if they were one of the recipients. We even have newsletter-ready content you can use!
Thank you for your help in ensuring the validity of the NPTE and helping us maintain the highest standards to promote public protection.

Funding Available to Enhance the ELDD, Improve PT Compact Implementation, and Collect Workforce Data
FSBPT is committed to supporting its member jurisdictions in their mission to protect the public by providing grants for various activities. We have grants available to help jurisdictions with the following activities:
Enhancing the ELDD
The ELDD is the Examination, Licensure, and Disciplinary Database that stores information about physical therapy licenses and disciplinary actions against licensees. Jurisdictions can apply for grants to fund consulting, programming, data entry, technological upgrades, and other activities that enhance updates to the ELDD, including connecting to the API, FSBPT's tool for easily connecting data. The API automates the process of jurisdictions receiving NPTE scores and sending licensure files at a frequency of their choosing. The API enhances the accuracy, security, and timeliness of the data.
Improving Compact Privilege Implementation
For jurisdictions that are part of the PT Compact, FSBPT encourages jurisdictions to create a button on their website to "Obtain a Compact Privilege" near the "Renew My License" button so that licensees think about the compact when they renew their state license. This website enhancement can be funded through the grant program. Additionally, grants can help jurisdictions use the API to allow jurisdictions to display Compact Privilege holder information on their licensure verification system to ensure that the individual is authorized to practice in the jurisdiction.
Collecting Workforce Data
FSBPT is also interested in enhancing workforce data collection as part of licensure renewal. This can include collecting information on demographics, employment status, practice settings, and more. The data can be used to inform workforce development and policy decisions.
FSBPT offers grant funding to support its member jurisdictions in their mission to protect the public. If you are interested in receiving a grant, please send an email to FSBPT's CEO, William A. Hatherill summarizing what you would like to have funded and why it is important or how it can improve efficiencies for your board.

FSBPT Forum: Consumer Protection Rating: How the ELDD Can Protect the Public
The ELDD is a comprehensive physical therapy database of disciplinary, licensure, and examination score information. The information stored in this database helps jurisdictions in multiple ways. This article is based on a 2022 Annual Education Meeting presentation by Charles Harvey, Corie Tillman Wolf, and Jason Kaiser.
Spotlight on Member Resources: Criminal History Record Information/Criminal Background Checks
FSBPT has resources that boards may find helpful when implementing and using criminal history record information (CHRI), commonly referred to as a criminal background check, as part of the application for licensure.
