We have received a few inquiries from our member boards wondering if there is something different about the way we’re scoring or scaling the NPTE. There is! 

Since we were rolling out exams that utilize the 2013 Content Outlines, we also took the opportunity to update the way we create a scale score for the NPTE.  This change was made possible by advancements in computing power over the last few years.  For the full details, see the article titled “January 2013 Brings a New Year, New Content, New Standards and New Scoring,” in the Fall 2012 Forum Magazine. One thing to note is that now you should not be surprised if the occasional candidate achieves an 800 scale score.
