Take Action to Protect Yourself and Others

Do you suspect your practitioner is in violation of your state's physical therapy practice act?

Here's what you need to know:

• States are Responsible for Disciplining Violators

  Each state licensing authority has the ability and responsibility to discipline individuals who violate provisions of the state’s physical therapy practice act. Each state’s physical therapy practice act was specifically enacted for the purpose of protecting the public health, safety and welfare.

• Each State Has Its Own Regulations

  Those covered under the physical therapy practice act are licensed physical therapists, licensed or certified physical therapist assistants and those who hold out to practice physical therapy but are not licensed as physical therapists.

• Unethical Practices are Considered Violations

  Practices that are considered unethical are defined in each state's physical therapy practice act and individuals can be disciplined for those unethical practices as well as other practice act violations.

Is your physical therapist licensed and in good standing with state boards? Make sure your physical therapist is licensed and has not been disciplined.
